A WOMAN has suffered potentially serious head injuries after being hit by a double-decker bus.

The incident happened at the junction of Ringwood Road and Calmore Road in Totton at about 10.40am this morning.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said the woman was hit by an Xelabus double-decker bus, and had suffered a “substantial head injury”.

The spokesman added that the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance had landed at the scene but the woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment by land ambulance.

The woman, a 42-year-old woman from Totton, was walking her dog, a rhodesian ridgeback, which has now gone missing.

The road was closed as emergency services attend the scene, but reopened around 11.45am.
