An elderly couple were at the centre of a dramatic mud rescue in Hampshire last night.
The pair found themselves trapped in mud in the New Forest.
Emergency services were called at about 6pm to free the couple from the mud at Beaulieu near to Bishop’s Dyke.
Eighteen firefighters attended the incident in total, and pulled them to safety.
They were then left in the care of paramedics.
Hampshire firefighters were called into action again last night to rescue another pensioner from mud.
This time, an elderly man had become stuck near to Yewtree Road in Hayling Island at about 11pm.
Using a ladder, firefighters freed him and he was left in the care of an ambulance crew.
