City plans for Christmas - in August
IT MIGHT only be August, but already plans are under way to create a winter wonderland in central Southampton.
The city council has submitted a planning application to create a festive food court on the northern side of the Bargate monument.
The site would also contain a Christmas tree and a grotto, and would be in place from mid-November to the first week of January.
A decision is expected by October 15.
