POLICE are hunting a burglar who targeted the home of a Hampshire pensioner and made off with precious family trinkets.

Officers have issued this e-fit of the man, who entered a house at Lime Kiln Lane, Holbury, and stole a purse containing cash as well as the silver trinkets.

He then tried to steal a bike but was spotted by the 70-year-old householder and a ten-year-old boy, a family friend.

They were both outside at the time and gave chase, forcing the burglar to drop the bike as he ran off on foot towards the The Old Mill pub.

A police spokesman said: “Some of the trinkets he stole had been in the family for a number of years and were more than 100 years old.”

The burglar struck on August 8, entering the house through an unlocked door.

He is described as white, 5ft 5in and aged in his early twenties with a large chin and a flat nose. He was wearing a light grey hoody and black jogging bottoms. The two witnesses say he blinked a lot and had a deep voice.
