A FLEET of new buses are coming to the south.

Bluestar and Uni-Link have invested £6.72 million to put 33 new buses on Southampton’s roads.

The new buses will be more environmentally friendly with lower carbon emissions and feature more comfortable seating and free access to Wi-Fi Internet.

From next week, customers travelling on the Bluestar number one route between Southampton and Winchester will benefit from eight new buses and almost the entire Uni-Link fleet, which serves the University of Southampton, will be replaced by 23 double deckers and two single decked busses.

Bluestar operations manager Paul Coyne said: “The state of the art Bluestar buses will bring more comfort and style to our fleet.

“At Bluestar we are committed to meeting and raising the expectations of our customers and I believe these new vehicles will go towards achieving that.”

Andrew Wickham, managing director of Go South Coast, the parent company of Bluestar, said: “This major investment reaffirms our commitment to providing the best possible service to our customers in Hampshire.

“We expect passengers will enjoy the gift of travelling in comfort and style.”

Passengers were given a first glimpse of the new fleet at Bargate in Southampton on Wednesday but for those who missed the launch, there will be another opportunity between 10am and 3pm on September 7 outside Winchester Guildhall.

Go South Coast is also putting 33 more new buses on routes across Dorset and Wiltshire.
