SOUTHAMPTON singer Greg Gilbert is making ripples in the art world.
The Delays frontman has had one of his pieces selected for the Royal College of Arts National Open Exhibition.
His ball point pen drawing, Boscombe Biro Miniature, is one of around 100 pieces selected for inclusion out of some 1,700 entries.
As previously reported, the singer-songwriter from Bitterne Park, whose hits include Hey Girl and Long Time Coming, has been focusing on his art this year.
He has already had two local solo exhibitions – at Harbour Lights Picture House in Southampton and the Everyman cinema in Winchester. He also had two pieces accepted into the annual St Barbe Open Exhibition in Lymington and won the Beaulieu Fine Arts Award with Affinities 1.
But this is his first national success.

He told the Echo: “I'm thrilled to have been selected for the National Open exhibition.
The Royal College of Art has produced so many amazing artists and to have my work exhibited there is a real honour.”
He added: “The judging panel included art critic Brian Sewell and artist Barbara Rae, so it's special to have my work critiqued by such an experienced group.”
The exhibition runs at the Royal College of Art in London from October 24 to November 7 and at The Minerva Theatre in Chichester from November 14 to 30.
Delays have their regular Christmas gig at The Brook in Portswood in December.
