IT is the highlight of any Scouting experience.

Staged every four years, the World Scout Jamboree is held at locations around the world and places are highly prized by members of the Scout Association.

Only 90 spaces were allocated for young boys and girls within Hampshire to attend the next jamboree in 2015 in Japan, so the fact that Scouts and Explorers from the Chandler’s Ford division scooped ten of them is nothing short of remarkable.

Now the nine boys and one girl are preparing for the trip of a lifetime.

The challenge is now on for the youngsters to raise the £3,400 each they need to fund the trip, which will include staying with host families, attending the world jamboree camp itself and seeing some of the sights of the country.

Parents of the Scouts has now been formed to raise the money through fundraisers.
