POLICE are warning fowl keepers to be on their guard after a dozen chicken pullets and a cockerel were stolen from a Hampshire field.
Officers say a lock on a gate to the field off Green Lane at Ampfield near Romsey was cut to gain entry to where the birds were kept. Each pullet was valued at £7 and the cockbird £2. A camouflage net was also stolen during the raid which happened between 4.30pm on Monday and 7.15am Tuesday.
