Vending machines across leisure centres in Hampshire targeted by thieves
THESE are the images of two men police believe stole cash from vending machines at three Hampshire leisure centres.
In one afternoon the pair is suspected of using a key or some other tool to access vending machines and remove the coin containers.
It is believed they netted at least several hundred pounds.
Police say the men struck first at 4.15pm at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, in Passfield Avenue, Eastleigh.
This time one man spoke to the receptionist while the other removed the money pod and hid it in his rucksack. Both men left together.
Later on they are said to have used the same technique at about 6.30pm at Chamberlayne Leisure Centre, in Weston Lane, Southampton. It all happened on Tuesday, October 29.
Investigating officer PC Daniel Robinson said: “These two men are clearly organised and are carrying out a planned criminal activity, targeting machines and venues they have identified as vulnerable.
“It is thought they have targeted at least three locations and, given their method of operation, it is thought they will continue. The CCTV images are clear and somebody will know who these men are.
“If you notice anyone acting suspiciously around vending machines, please contact the venue's management or the police.”
Anyone who can identify the men in the photo is asked to contact PC Robinson at Bitterne on 101. Witnesses to a crime in progress should ring 999.
