CIVIC chiefs are to discuss plans for a new secondary school in Hampshire.
Proposals are in the pipeline to build a new facility in Horton Heath – to the south of Horton Heath and the west of Burnett’s Lane – capable of hosting 1,500 students.
Cabinet members at Eastleigh Borough Council are discussing the scheme, which would see the first new secondary school in the borough in more than 30 years.
Education bosses hope that it will ease pressure on current places amid plans to build hundreds of homes in the area. It could even involve building a new primary school.
Hampshire County Council will lead on the proposals, which are at an early stage.
If all goes to plan, the schools could be up and running by 2018, funded by developer contributions and Government grants.
Cabinet members will discuss the plans at Eastleigh’s Civic Offices at 7pm tomorrow.
