Man found hanging had rent debt

Daily Echo: Godshill in New Forest Godshill in New Forest

A MAN found hanged in a New Forest beauty spot had been due in court over £2,000 rent arrears, an inquest heard.

Harvey Thompson, 48, was found by a walker in Ashley Walk car park, near Godshill, a remote site popular with tourists.

On the morning of October 29 this year, police cordoned off the car park and searched the body, finding ID and keys which they used to enter Mr Thompson’s home in Pembridge House in Fordingbridge.

No suicide letter was found but a court summons regarding unpaid rent arrears was discovered.

Coroner Keith Wiseman ruled that Mr Thompson had taken his own life.

I am worried about this one, this guy was in supported accommodation managed by Sovereign Housing Association. How did this mans rent arrears build up and was new legislation partly responsible. It is saddening when someone is so desperate over their rent that they commit suicide, I just hope and pray that this is not the first of many.

What do the Authorities think someone's going to do if they can't afford to pay? Robbing a bank is illegal!
