A MAN was hurt as he tried to defend himself during an attempted robbery.

The 23-year-old Gosport man was approached from behind and threatened in the area of Jamaica Place and Shaftesbury Road in Gosport.

He received a minor cut to his right hand as he tried to defend himself.

Nothing was stolen.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened sometime between 7.30pm and 9.15pm on Saturday.

A suspect is described as white, in his 30s, of a stocky build, with a deep voice and Scottish accent and wearing a black beanie hat and a navy blue jacket.
