BURGLARS got away with a “substantial” amount of cash and jewellery after breaking into a house in Ampfield.
Police say Christmas presents including two Apple iPhones were also stolen from the isolated property in Pound Lane.
A police tracker dog found a new orange and green petrol strimmer, which was stolen from an outbuilding, abandoned in a field nearby.
The burglars struck between midday and 2.30pm on Tuesday. Amongst their haul was a Toshiba laptop, a Wii and a PlayStation 3.
