POLICE have re-opened part of one of Hampshire's busiest motorways after a five car pile-up.
The vehicles collided on the M271 southbound carriageway close to junction one at Nursling, Southampton at 11am.
They include a Toyota Celica, a Ford Focus, a Peugeot 206, a Volvo and a BMW.
Police sealed off one lane close to the junction for the vehicles to be recovered.
The accident caused tailbacks on the southbound carriageway.
Meanwhile a woman had to be helped from her car by firefighters when she her car left Chilworth Road near Chilworth at 6.55am and crashed into a tree.
Crews from Eastleigh fire station arrived to free her and she was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance.
