Civic chiefs are set to hand out more than £1,000 to help pay for a memorial bench.
Plans are in the pipeline to install the seat complete with a plaque in Fareham in memory of Alderman Ernest Crouch, who died in November.
The bench will be placed to the south of Peacock Close in Fareham as a lasting tribute to the former town mayor who was an active councillor for more than 30 years.
An application has been submitted to the authority for a grant of £1,150 for the procurement and installation of the seat.
The final project is expected to cost around £1,500 in total.
Officers have recommended that the scheme should get the go ahead but a final decision will be made at the Executive Portfolio and Resources meeting next Monday in the town’s Civic Offices.
