Alresford petition over lorry traffic

Daily Echo: Petition over lorry traffic Petition over lorry traffic

AN online petition to stop lorries travelling through Alresford has taken off.

Petitioners launched the site using Change.org, allowing residents to voice their concerns.

One hundred signatures are needed for the petition, which states: “We object especially to articulated through traffic that does not serve or provide any benefit to the town.

“This is having a serious detrimental effect on the local infrastructure, residents’ property and the health and safety of all those using the town on a daily basis.”

No surprise, Alresford is now mainly an 'incomers' town for those with enough cash to live there, most not realising a number of commercial and industrial businesses operate there. The A31 bypasses the place for 'through' traffic, but to access the Candovers and the town itself then they have to drive through it!
