A HAMPSHIRE museum is charting the history of speed in a new exhibition.

Eastleigh Museum is taking a look back at speed in the Solent area and the pioneering technology used to power planes and cars.

The story includes speed-merchants Donald and Sir Malcolm Campbell, John Cobb and Sir Richard Branson while visitors can also discover how Titchfield man Peter Twiss travelled faster than the Earth spins as he flew over Fareham at over 1,000 miles per hour.

The free exhibition, which starts on February 5, also includes the Spitfire story and the 1960s Supercar made by Gordon Keeble at Eastleigh.
