POLICE are today hunting arsonists who have struck twice in two Hampshire communities.

The first fire was discovered in a field in Chapel Lane, Fawley at around 7.30am this morning.

A 50-year-old woman arrived to find a horse trailer, containing hay, fed and rugs, was completely burnt out.

Fifteen minutes later, a 57-year-old woman arrived at Blackfield Health Centre in Hampton Lane, Blackfield, to find one room had been set alight.

Detectives and the Arson Task Force are investigating both incidents. They will try to determine if they are linked to arsons at sheds and vehicles since December 1 in the Fawley, Holbury and Blackfield areas.

Police at Lyndhurst want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious people or vehicles in the areas of the fires.

Detective Constable Keith Evans said: “Fortunately, no people have been injured in these incidents, but the owners of the affected properties have been very upset. We would welcome any information the public can provide.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lyndhurst CID on 101.
