HEAVY rain and strong winds are set to batter Hampshire tomorrow.

And there is an increased risk of flooding in some areas of the county, with two flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency (EA).

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the county lasting from 7am to 11.45pm.

The agency says up to 15 millimetres of rainfall, more than half an inch, and gales of up to 60mph are expected as bad weather returns to the south.

New rainfall is likely to mean more flooding in Hampshire.

And two flood warnings - meaning be prepared - and a number of less severe flood alerts have also been issued by the EA.

The agency is warning that the stretch of the River Meon between Titchfield and Wickham could pose a risk to riverside properties.

And there is also a warning about the levels of the River Avon near to Ringwood.

There are also flood alerts - meaning be aware - for Hambledon, the section of the River Itchen from Twyford to Winchester, Hursley, King Sombourne, Cheriton, Bishops Sutton and the River Meon from Wickham to East Meon.

I'm not at all happy with this weather so I'm taking my sun lounger back to ASDA – the label said I could take it back if not completely satisfied.

The same as light rain, it just takes less time to collect. It is therefore a function of time rather than gravity.

The darkness
Creeps upon us
In tiny shadow fingers
Grasping for what is unseen
It envelops the land
In a black and opaque hue
Wanders across shimmering oceans
And steps of land
It lingers in my mind’s crevice
A brewing storm cloud
Waiting, waiting
For the rain to spill down.
