A BUSY Southampton dual carriageway was shut by police after a road smash.
A driver lost control of a grey Vauxhall Insignia on Bitterne Road West shortly after noon on Saturday and hit the central reservation.
No one was injured, but the carriageway was closed for nearly an hour while the wrecked vehicle was recovered.
It caused long tailbacks for motorists including many travelling to St Mary’s Stadium for the Saints v Yeovil FA Cup clash.
