A HAMPSHIRE MP is welcoming a fall in unemployment in her constituency.

Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, said Office for National Statistic figures which reveal a drop in unemployment from 2.4 per cent to 2.3 per cent between November and December last year, were “very good news”, but said there was more to be done.

The number of people in employment in Gosport has increased by 489 since December 2012. The youth unemployment rate also dropped last month and currently stands at 4.4 per cent, down 2.7 per cent from December 2012.

The national unemployment rate is 7.1 per cent.
