RED Hot Chili Peppers will be Road Trippin’ to the Otherside of the Solent to headline Isle of Wight Festival 2014 in their only UK show.

The legendary band, long admired by the festival’s promoter John Giddings, will play an exclusive festival set on Saturday June 14.

Having released a staggering ten studio albums since their formation in 1983, the LA four-piece responsible for Californication and Stadium Arcadium have have won over a generation of music fans with their definitive sound.

The band told the Daily Echo: “To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors.

“When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.”

John Giddings added: “Finally- we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!”

The line up for the festival, at Seaclose Park near Newport from June 12 – 15, already includes Biffy Clyro, Calvin Harris, Rudimental and Passenger.
