THE funeral of a popular Southampton man killed in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan will take place next week.
Humanitarian campaigner Del Singh died in a gun attack at a restaurant in Kabul earlier this month.
His funeral will be held at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha, in Cranbury Avenue, St Mary’s, at 11.30am on Thursday, followed by a service at 12.30pm in the East Chapel, Southampton Crematorium.
The 39-year-old, of Northumberland Road, St Mary’s, was one of 21 people killed in the attack on January 17.
Coroner Grahame Short opened an inquest into Mr Singh’s death earlier this week, with a full inquest set for July 2.
Well-known in Southampton, Mr Singh was a prospective Labour Member of the European Parliament.
Family flowers only are requested, but donations can be made to The Del Singh Foundation, care of Co-operative Funeralcare, 122 St Mary’s Road, Southampton, SO14 OBJ.
