Traffic wardens to go on strike in Portsmouth

Daily Echo: Traffic wardens to strike in Hampshire Traffic wardens to strike in Hampshire

Traffic wardens are to go on strike in a row over issues including pay, poor changing facilities and claims of pressure to increase parking tickets.

Members of Unite in Portsmouth will walk out for 24 hours on Wednesday following two hours of industrial action last week.

Unite convenor Richard White said: ''Our members have reluctantly decided to move to full strike action.

"It is regrettable that we have to take this step, but the attitude of council management has left us with no alternative. So far, our members have taken action short of strike and strike actions lasting only an hour, on both occasions, Portsmouth City Council has docked members a full day's pay.''

They 'strike' everybody else in Southampton! Southampton City Council are obviously on a mission to collect as much money as possible from this little revenue stream. A friend of mine had a parking pass for a city council gym and it fell onto the seat in clear view when the door was closed. Even though the pass was in view and in date, they issued a ticket and wouldn't relax it on appeal.

As advised by the government, council's shouldn't be using parking charges as a source of revenue. Your time is running out SCC.

I can hear the sound of thousands of people crying... with laughter!

This strike will get results though. as one thing a council likes is it's revenue stream...
