FAMILY and friends have today said an emotional goodbye to a Southampton man killed in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan.
Hundreds of people attended the funeral Del Singh and heard moving tributes about the humanitarian campaigner during services in the city.
The 39-year-old, from St Mary's, who was a Labour MEP candidate for the South East for the upcoming European elections, died in an attack on a restaurant in Kabul last month.
Mr Singh's coffin was brought past the Civic Centre and on to the Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Cranbury Avenue where people had gathered with their heads covered to pay their respects.
Then a further service was held at the Southampton Crematorium, in Bassett Green Road.
Labour Deputy Leader Harriet Harman was at the Sikh temple, representing the party, along with Andy Burnham and many Southampton councillors.
Many paid tribute to Mr Singh's work at home in Southampton and abroad and said it was important to remember what Mr Singh believed in and to try and continue his legacy.
