POPPIES are being planted in a Hampshire community to remember the fallen.
Valley Park Parish Council has organised the flowers, a traditional symbol of the First World War and used on Remembrance Day, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the four-year conflict later this year.
Test Valley Borough Council will carry out the cultivation and seed sowing this month on their behalf.
Parish council chairman and Valley Park councillor Alan Dowden said: “By planting poppies throughout Valley Park, this symbol of remembrance will be recognised by old and young and shows the respect of our community.”
