CONTRACTORS have installed the wrong streetlights in a Hampshire market town, its council was told.
Southern Electric and the county council are undertaking a huge streetlight replacement plan and are currently working in Alresford.
Town councillor Roy Gentry said: “The county council have installed the wrong lights at the northern end of Jacklyns Lane.
We told them. Now they have sent an email saying ‘it’s wrong’.”
The council has been told the lights will be replaced.
Cllr Margot Power said: “Whenever there has been a problem they have carried on installing. They are like a machine.”
Meanwhile the council is to ask local residents close to the Stratton Bates car park their views on a new streetlight there. Nearby houses in Grange Road and Rosebery Road will be asked.
