A HAMPSHIRE ted is hoping that he has a head for heights as he attempts an abseil for charity.

South Central Ambulance Service’s mascot, 999 Ted, pictured, has set himself a mission to scale down the 350ft Spinnaker Tower to raise vital cash for the Stroke Association.

Donning the furry bear outfit will be paramedic Michelle Lambert, who aims to raise more than £300 for the charity when she embarks on the abseil this Saturday.

Michelle said: “It’s undoubtedly a big challenge for 999 Ted but I believe he is a bear with a head for heights.

“His name was provided by pupils at Fair Oak Junior School, near Eastleigh, as part of a SCAS competition so 999 Ted and I are hoping to get lots of local support for our attempt.”
