FIREFIGHTERS from Hampshire will be making a splash for charity today.

Crews from across the county are preparing to roll up their sleeves for the brigade’s National Car Wash.

The nationwide event raises vital funds for the Firefighters Charity in what is its largest fundraising drive of the year.

Motorists can have their cars cleaned in return for a donation to the charity, which aids serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.

Crews will also offer fire safety advice.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service area manager Andy Bowers said: “We are delighted that so many of our fire stations are getting involved and would urge local people to come along and support us on the day.

“Your valued donations will go towards helping thousands of men, women and children from the fire and rescue community during their times of need.”

Car washes led by Redbridge fire station are taking place from 10am-4pm in Wickes car park, Winchester Road, while motorists can take their cars to Winchester fire station during the same hours.

There is also a session from 10-4pm next Saturday in Hightown fire station.
