THIS was the remarkable scene from which a driver amazingly escaped unscathed when his car hit a pole on a busy New Forest road.
The bizarre incident happened on the A35 between Lyndhurst and Christchurch as the Ford Fiesta crashed into the pole and ended up suspended by a wire.
The picture was snapped by John Paine, 62, who couldn’t believe his eyes.
He said: “We were driving through the Forest at the time and this car had got caught up in the telephone wires.
“I have no idea how it happened but we heard one of the police officers say it was one of the weirdest things they had seen in 20 years.
“We thought it was a film set, to be honest. It’s not the sort of thing you see every day, a car like that.”
Police confirmed they were called to the scene of a road accident at 8.15am last Friday.
