FAMILIES are being welcomed to a Ringwood school as it hosts its annual open day to prospective pupils and parents.

Ringwood Waldorf School will open its doors this Saturday for its May Open Day which has become a highlight in the school’s calendar.

The community event, which is held from 10am to 12.30pm, provides an opportunity for prospective parents to visit the school – which currently has 240 pupils on roll – view the kindergartens and classrooms and speak to the teachers.

There will be a short talk on Steiner Waldorf education, which is based on the ideals of Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, and the children will present music and drama in the school hall.

Refreshments will be served and there will be maypole dancing in the courtyard.

For more information about the May Open Day on May 3 or the introductory morning on May 7, call the school office on 01425 472664 or view the website on www.ringwoodwaldorfschool.org.uk

Shame schools don't use the May Pole anymore - I loved it when I was at Infant School - a proper celebration, a May Day King and Queen chosen, dancing around the May Pole. Such a shame another English Tradition down the drain!
