A CHARITY is recruiting an army of volunteers to help out at a festival this summer and raise thousands of pounds.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance needs 160 pairs of helping hands to be on duty at the BoomTown Fair in Winchester in August.

For every volunteer the charity can recruit the fair will make a donation, which could potentially total more than £15,000.

Volunteers who choose to take part will be requested to help for three shifts throughout the week, beginning August 4.

All volunteers will have to do is scan the wristbands of festival-goers entering and leaving the festival throughout their shift. once the shift has been completed the volunteers will be free to enjoy the festival and will have access to the campsite in the staff area and enjoy discounted food.

John Perry, chief executive of the charity, said: “Having volunteers at the festival will be great exposure for our charity and an excellent way to reach out to a wider audience.”
