A DRIVER was thrown from his car after a collision on a Hampshire motorway early today.
Firefighters found the elderly man dangling from his vehicle after the crash on the M3 north of Winchester at about 12.50am.
They supported the man, who had suffered a head injury, to allow them to extract him from the wreckage. He was taken to hospital. His condition was unclear.
Police closed the road for some 90 minutes as wreckage was strewn across the three lanes.
The incident involved two vehicles on the southbound carriageway between junctions seven and eight near Dummer.
Watch manager Chris Roper, of Winchester Fire Station, said: “He had been half ejected and was trapped between the vehicle and the road. We stabilised him and assisted the ambulance crew in getting him out.”
Two other people from the other car were also taken to hospital.
