A MAN has been arrested after a fracas at a Hampshire horse fair today.
The 67-year-old from Totton was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody being quizzed by officers.
Police leapt into action at Wickham Horse Fair at around midday, breaking up a fight.
Scores of people ran onto the main track down the High Street and more than eight police officers surrounded two men before leading them off.
The incident left a man with a minor cut to his face.
It brought proceedings to a halt briefly but the fair returned to normal at 12.45pm.
The fair is an 800-year-old tradition at the village near Fareham.
Last year’s event was marred by a mass brawl which was caught on video by the RSCPA animal welfare charity.
