A SOUTHAMPTON care home have been doing its bit for a children’s eye cancer charity.

Dawson Lodge welcomed the Mayor of Eastleigh to its fun day for family and friends, which raised more than £700 for the charity Chect.

The charity looks after children with retinoblastoma and the care home is hoping that the money will be used to buy young cancer patients a specially designed teddy bear called Dino.

The bear has been designed so that his eye can be taken out, helping children with eye cancer to understand what their illness means, and have some furry support.
