THE STARS of 24 descended on Southampton last night as filming for the latest series came to the city docks.

DP World's Container Terminal was the setting for the overnight shoot for the current series, Live Another Day, bringing Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, and his sidekick Chloe O'Brian to the city.

Stephen Fry, who plays the British Prime Minister in the latest series which is showing on Sky, was also on the secure set, tweeting “No spoilers, just to say that I'm on set tonight. #24 'The following takes place...' etc.

Director Jon Cassar tweeted a selfie of himself in the early hours of this morning after a busy night of filming, under the Southampton Container Terminal sign.

Stood with his back to two container ships, which were berthed alongside the port all evening, on the edge of the port, he tweeted “this is what my night looked like”.

He also tweeted a photograph of actress Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Chloe O'Brian, on the set, saying “filling in the Day 9 marker - now we have 9 shooting days left”.

Assistant director Beth Elliott was also excited to be in the city, tweeting a photograph of a dock sign and writing “The magic number followed us to Southampton”.

Four weeks ago, director Jon Cassar, showed that Southampton was in his sights as the next location for the series, tweeting a photograph of container ship Mol Celebration and writing “#24 scouting in Southampton”.

On Tuesday he also tweeted that they were halfway through the shooting of the finale - suggesting that the filming in Southampton will feature in what is bound to be an explosive finish to the ninth series.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, residents in the area were sent letters by 20th Century Fox, warning them that they may hear gun fire or pyrotechnics during the night as filming gets underway.
