MEMBERS of Parliament have been offered a taste of Hampshire today after local food producers visited the House of Commons to showcase the county's abundance of goods.
The event was instigated by Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, with support from Damian Hinds, MP for East Hampshire, and George Hollingbery, MP for Meon Valley, and Winchester MP Steve Brine.
Ms Nokes has been working with the county's food group who organised the event.
The celebration of the county's produce involved a selection of producers representing the breadth of Hampshire, from Basingstoke to Southampton and Petersfield to the New Forest.
Caroline said: “This was a brilliant opportunity to showcase Hampshire. Across the county there are great examples of bakers, cheese-makers, ice-cream makers, even natural beauty products.
“The list is almost endless.
“It was great to have some of these items available for tasting and sampling, with the local producers on hand to explain to decision-makers and opinion-formers just why Hampshire is so great.”
