MAJOR roads have reopened after two hours of traffic chaos when a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The incident took place in Bassett Avenue, Southampton, and delayed outbound traffic from the city with the road closed northbound from Memorial Roundabout and southbound from Chilworth Roundabout.
It occurred at around 6pm and paramedics rushed the 28-year-old man to Southampton General Hospital.
Delays also affected The Avenue and Winchester Road and motorists were urged to take other routes out of the city.
The roads were reopened at around 7.30pm.
