A BABY has been born during a 100mph drama on a Hampshire motorway.

Tiffany Ellmore, from Portsmouth, was forced to give birth on the motorway late on Friday night after her dad Colin was stopped by police as he raced her to hospital at 100mph.

When officers pulled them over and discovered Tiffany was already in the late stages of labour, four unmarked police cars surrounded the family car to allow Colin to deliver his granddaughter.

Once baby Lola Mia Rose was safe in Tiffany's arms, police called for an ambulance, which took mother and baby to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

She weighed a health 6lbs 4oz and was discharged home on Saturday.

Police confirmed that no action would be taken over the M275 drama.

Wouldn't be saying that if he had had an accident - doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened - great that mum and baby fine though

What will be the place of birth on the birth certificate?
The make and model of the car.
The M275 Southbound.

So the baby was actually born during a 0mph drama then DE. And Colin delivered his grandchild? I think it was Tiffany who DELIVERED the baby!

Two questions: Why were there four unmarked police cars on the M275 at the same tiime. Also why did they wait until the baby was born to call an ambulance?

tiffany gave birth to the child, colin did what any midwife does and delivered the baby.

a great story but hope people in future try for an ambulance first before thinking of speeding to hospital

Any truth in the report that as a Portsmouth girl it was her 3rd kid and she was 14?

All this just after the traditional annual confusion in Portsmouth bought on by Fathers Day.

seagulls fly over the city upside down as there is nothing worth sh@tting on.

So when the postman hands you your mail, that means you delivered it? Would the baby not have been delivered if the mother was all alone at the time? The mother delivers the baby, except in cases of caesarian or forceps delivery. The person standing around assisting just deals with the baby once it is delivered, At least that's what they taught me during my nursing training.

Thought the Police budget was being reviewed to avoid an overspend of the "public purse". Strange, therefore, that we can afford four unmarked units in the same place late at night. But don't worry - money can probably be saved by cutting the number of officers on non-traffic duties.

If the mother is alone, she gives birth and the the baby is born. Stop being so flipping pedantic.
