DOG owners are being urged to be on the alert after a suspected attempt to steal a dog at Verely car park, near Burley, in the New Forest.
New Forest Dog Owners Group were told by police that a woman walking her pedigree dog was followed and approached by a man asking questions about the dog.
When she returned to her car, a large white van had parked across the back of her car so she couldn't access the boot to put the dog in.
A New Forest District Council van turned up at this point and the van left with two men inside.
Owners who feel threatened or suspicious in these circumstances are urged to call police on 101.
