Lingerie store goes into administration again

First published in News

MORE THAN 750 jobs are at risk after lingerie chain La Senza went into administration for the second time in just over two years.

The UK chain, which has a store in Southampton’s WestQuay, is now under the control of a corporate rescue team from PwC who said it would listen to offers for the business.

Marnixheath, which operates the La Senza stores in the UK as well as three Pinkberry frozen yoghurt outlets in London and the south-east, employs 752 people across England, Wales and Scotland.

PwC will continue to trade the businesses as normal while discussions take place with interested parties over a sale. The North American operations of La Senza and others worldwide are unaffected by the administration.

When La Senza collapsed into administration in 2012, there were 1,300 redundancies and the closure of more than 100 outlets.

However, 1,100 jobs were saved when 60 of its stores were sold by KPMG to the UK arm of Kuwait-based Alshaya.

I feel very sorry for the people who may loose their jobs, but how can you make a profit even with their extortionate mark ups, selling bras, thongs and a few pairs of nipple tassels in places like west quay with the extortionate rates and rent

La Senza used to have a really lovely selection of (not so brightly coloured) very reasonable priced underwear i used to shop there all the time then their prices went through the roof and the bras etc turned brightly coloured and trashy looking they need to bring back the type of bras they did about 5 years ago... and the prices! they might save themselves then and the poor people who are losing their jobs!!
