A new superfast broadband programme promises to be rolled out in parts of Winchester over the next six months.

The Hampshire Superfast Broadband Programme aims to extend its coverage so at least 95 per cent of premises in Hampshire can access the best available technology by the end of 2018.

It is hoped the new scheme will boost some 900 houses’ Internet connection by allowing a speed of 24 megabits per second.

New equipment will be installed in Winchester, Kings Worthy, Abbots Worthy, South Wonston and Colden Common between July and December 2014.

The Government has allocated £9.2m to Hampshire, which has been match-funded by Hampshire County Council.
