One of Hampshire's biggest summer shows has got off to a spectacular start.

Thousands of people have flocked to Netley Marsh to enjoy the opening of the village's annual steam and craft show, which raises thousands of pounds for charity.

The huge showground at Meadow Farm in Ringwood Road is full of the sights, sounds and smells of the British countryside in its heyday.

Last year's show attracted 10,000 people from across the south and organisers are hoping this year's event will be even more successful.

Show boss Ian Sims said: “Everything is going extremely well. We've got lots of happy people - and that means a happy chairman!”

Highlights of this year's celebration include an appearance by the Renegades Parachute Display Team, who will be dropping in tomorrow and Sunday.

The Adams Axemen Lumberjack Display Team and popular entertainer Mr Alexander are also taking part in the three-day show. Dogs owned by Bob Hogg will be working sheep, geese and ducks.

Tonight's live music section will feature performances by Snake Oil, Awesome Foursome and Grovestar.
