A MAN who leapt to his death from a Southampton bridge was suffering from mental health problems, an inquest heard.
John Travers died after jumping from the Itchen Bridge in view of pedestrians and falling into an industrial yard below.
A Southampton inquest heard how the 40-year-old, of no fixed address, had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder and had a history of using drugs and alcohol.
David Butler, early intervention team manager at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, said that Mr Travers had made previous attempts to take his own life.
A pathologist ruled that he suffered multiple injuries from a fall from height.
Hampshire coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of suicide.
