TWO churches in Southampton are set to run free clubs to help jobseekers.

Holy Trinity Weston and the Victory Gospel Church in Portswood will be opening their doors to equip people in their communities with a better chance of gaining employment.

Members from both churches have been given specialist training from the charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and will now run free weekly CAP Job Clubs to give people looking for jobs a boost.

Job Club managers Daron Medway and Jan Patching will be leading the workshops and said: “With more people facing long-term unemployment, there is a real need for a personal service which provides practical and emotional support for people to find work again.

“We hope that we can help people in Southampton to gain the confidence and skills they need to find employment, particularly for those who may have been out of work for a long period of time.”

CAP Job Clubs will be a weekly course that combines one-to-one consultations, group support and practical sessions that cover topics such as identifying strengths, CV writing and interview techniques.

Both clubs will start on Tuesday, October 14. The Holy Trinity club will meet above the CRY Charity Shop in Victoria Road, Woolston, and the Victory Gospel group will meet at The Victory Centre in Portswood Road.
