A CONVICTED murder that kicked a pensioner to death in Hampshire and was on the run from prison is this morning back behind bars.

Lewis Hoare was one of two prisoners who walked out of Spring Hill open prison near Aylesbury, Buckingham, this weekend sparking a major man-hunt.

But the search came to an end last night when the 27-year-old handed himself in to British Transport Police at South Ruislip railway station in Greater London at 11pm last night.

Fellow inmate Kenneth Simmonds, 43, who is believed to have also walked out of the prison at 1pm Sunday, is still on the loose.

As reported by the Daily Echo Hoare, who has the word 'Pompy' tattooed across his knuckles, was jailed for life in 2007 for his part in kicking to death pensioner Brian Kitching in Southsea.

Simmonds, who is serving time for malicious wounding, is of medium build, with blue eyes, short brown hair, clean shaven, with a small scar under his left eye and a scar above his right eyebrow.
