A LIFEBOAT was launched this afternoon to help an angler who had suffered a suspected heart attack at sea.
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat was launched at 4.24pm to find the White Maiden, a catamaran charted in Lymington to take a group of anglers fishing in the western Solent.
The lifeboat had received reports that one of the anglers, described as being "of mature years" had suffered a heart attack.
After being launched the lifeboat crew discovered the White Maiden had already made its own way to Cowes harbour.
A lifeboat crew member joined paramedics to treat the man, described by the lifeboat service as being conscious, who was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
