A HAMPSHIRE mum has told of the terrifying moment armed police swooped on her home sparking a mystery four-day probe.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, described how she was preparing dinner as her children returned from school when she was confronted by officers carrying guns in her back garden.

She told how more than 15 police had surrounded her home, bursting into the property through both the front and back doors and ordering them to “put your hands up”.

She said: It was so scary. I'm still shaking now and having panic attacks.

“I saw police coming through the front door. I don't know what happened after that because they called an ambulance for me.

“The police say they were looking for stolen property but you don't get guns when it's just stolen property. We still have no idea what's going on.

Police set about searching the house where she lives with her husband, and children aged five and 12.

The drama in Bursledon Road unfolded on Thursday afternoon, with neighbours initially reporting it was part of the city's Op Fortress anti-drugs crackdown.

However police confirmed to the Daily Echo that it was in fact a stolen goods enquiry - but they refused to be drawn on any further detail.

The woman and her children spent three nights in a hotel as police continued to search the house and also a wooded area behind the property, opposite Antelope Park. She told how her husband stayed with a friend.

The family was finally allowed home on Sunday afternoon as police removed cordons and left the scene, taking with them bags full of evidence.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire police said a “number of items” had been recovered and were now subject to further examination. No arrests have been made.
