POLICE are searching for a driver after a Gosport schoolboy was seriously injured in a hit and run.

The eight-year-old boy was struck down at 5.30pm in Eastbourne Avenue, Gosport, near the junction with Worthing Avenue.

The youngster was taken to hospital with serious injuries on Tuesday.

Police are appealing for witnesses as they search for the driver of the car who failed to stop at the scene, and is believed to have continued travelling towards Brockhurst Road.
