PLANS to allow a funfair to use land in Hampshire as a permanent base have been withdrawn.
Charles Cole Amusement Caterer’s plans were withdrawn hours before they were due to be considered by city councillors at a meeting.
The fun fair operator had wanted to use land between Shop Lane and Botley and Bursledon roads to store 12 caravans, four rides, ten lorries and seven smaller vehicles when the fair is not on tour.
Twenty-eight residents had objected to the plans, while Southampton City Council planners had recommended that the council’s planning panel refuse permission at a meeting last night.
But hours before the meeting the applicant decided to withdraw the bid.
